New Zealand – the land of sheep (Christchurch to Mount Cook)

We started our Kiwi adventure in Christchurch, a city which is much nicer than we expected it to be!

We got our car (not from Hertz this time!) for the next month (wow!) – the journey begins…

Our first destination was Banks Peninsular near Christchurch – a very scenic area, much more sheep than human inhabitants…

We stayed on a sheep farm – very nice and cozy place with a lot of sheep land around and long walks to do…

Of course, Thorsten wanted to have a nice photo of a sheep and him, smiling into the camera. But those cute little woollen fellows are quicker than you would expect them to be. And they where scarred of him! So the plan was, that I distract them by shouting Määäääh and Hardmän sneeking to them from the side, hiding behind the bushes.

The trick was pretty good, but on the last 2 meters, Thorsten was’n quick enough, fell over something and catched about a hundred little stings from a plant in his hand… It took as a week to get the last one out again! However, we tried a different trick, just running to them from 2 different sides towards a fence and catch one out of 20.

Nevertheless, we enjoyed the landscape and really had fun.

Next stop on our way to Mount Cook, was Geraldine, where we spend a night and where I found quite cool kitchen equipment and Thorsten made a new fried…

Some impressions from our way…

In the Mount Cook area we had some serious issues and some nice and easy short walks…

Next destination: East Coast around Oamaru and Dunedin (where we met someone from home…*smiley winking*
